This year’s AGM will shape the movement!

The Board will be presenting a draft constitution with proposed amendments to the following areas of the current constitution:

1. A proposal to invite Christian Dentists to join CMFnz as Full Members and Dental students as student members.

This proposed amendment was requested of the board by dentist Penelope Roberts after she attended Reflect conference in 2023 because there is no existing dental fellowship in New Zealand. We have taken time to research the global landscape. A number of fellowships around the world eg. Australia, USA, Canada, include Dentists as full members. Our global network body is the International Christian Medical and Dental Association. We are not proposing a change of name, but rather that we invite our colleagues in dentistry to join as full members and dental students as student members.

2. Create a free Associate Student Membership category.

We currently have an associate membership for other healthcare professionals and non-medical supporters. We are in need of a student equivalent for healthcare students and non-medical supporters who are students.

3. The addition of ‘other healthcare professionals and students of these’ wording to CMFnz charitable purposes, reflective of our work in partnership with NCFNZ to connect and inspire all healthcare workers and students. These professionals are also welcome to join CMFnz as Associate Members or Associate student members (as per point 2 above).

4. Incorporated Societies Act 2022 compliance requires certain amendments. These will been included in the draft constitution.

5. An extension to the board member term from 2 to 3 years, to slow down the rate of change management and administration.

6. A provision to allow board student reps to be re-elected for 12 month consecutive terms

Thank-you for coming along and helping to shape the movement!

Board Member Nominations

In view of our upcoming AGM we would like to invite nominations to the Board from amongst our membership. Please consider if you would like to serve the CMFnz community in this way, or is there someone you would like to nominate.
The CMFnz board currently consists of 10 people (including ND Jen Collings and two student reps) of which 4 are eligible to stand for re-election this year. We have a particular need for senior doctors to come onto the board. Currently, we have the enthusiasm and drive of a relatively youthful board but need the wisdom and vision of some more seasoned doctors with governance experience.
Note that Board nominations are due by Wednesday 14th August

Please complete the nomination process, by filling out the nomination form below and returning it by email (scanned document) to [email protected] or post to PO Box 31138, Milford, Auckland, 0741:

2024 Board Member Nomination Form

Please ensure that nominations are received by CMFnz before midnight on Wednesday 14th August 2024. Late nominations will not be accepted.

Note that each nominee must consent to their nomination, and that the nominee must be nominated by two full CMFnz members.

Board Student Representative Nominations

Nominations are invited for two Board Student Representatives, one from Otago and one from Auckland.

Please speak to your CMF group student leader and CMF/TSCF student worker to express your interest in being nominated. If several student members from each university are interested in the role, then a ballot process will need to be run by the local CMF student group to determine whose name to put forward for nomination and ratification at the AGM. The finalised nomination forms need to be emailed to the Board Secretary by Aug 15th 2024, having been determined and agreed at the local Otago and Auckland student group levels.

For any enquiries regarding student rep nominations please e-mail [email protected]
